CHIG-NAH-WA-PAN

After finally getting settled into a groove here in Mexico (post a couple of trips back to Oklahoma) I’m finding myself itching to visit my surrounding area before it ceases to be my surrounding. I’m writing from my cousin’s house in Mexico City, but this post is about the trip I took last weekend.

Chignahuapan is in the northern mountain range of the state of Puebla, a two hour bus ride from where i’m living. The place is known for it’s Christmas ornament factory and is currently pumpin those bad boys out like crazy. There’s also some pretty cool natural attractions nearby like the hot springs (pictured above) the waterfalls of Quetzalapan, and gorgeous canyons/valleys. The trip satisfied my need to get out of Puebla proper for a bit, but now i’ve got tunnel-vision looking forward to the month of travelling i’ve got coming up in two weeks!

I rode my first zip line. is was disappointingly slow but the view from up there was beautiful, it takes you right above the water fall

what you see after descending the 365 stairs. a heap of people and some pretty incredible waterfalls.

street art spotted on our way to see this:

a nice scenic outlook a stones throw from the zocalo of Zacatlan, a magical town 15km north of Chignahuapan

early morning return to the nearly empty hot springs/resort. so, so worth it!

I'm Sam. I'm from the great state of Oklahoma, USA. I dig good drawing, pretty pictures, and motorcycles
